SOPHIE ULIANO - Healthy Living Expert
(I call her the Green Goddess!)
KIDDOCJJ: What did you last EAT that was memorable - where and why?
SOPHIE: The last thing I ate that was memorable was a dish at Crossroads Kitchen in West Hollywood. It was grilled maitake mushrooms and artichoke hearts on a bed of pureed celeriac root. It was the most delicious thing I think I've ever tasted. The mushroom was smoky and "meaty" - so succulent, and juxtaposed beautifully against the creamy puree.
KIDDOCJJ: What have you LEARNed that stays with you daily?
SOPHIE: I have learned that what I eat for three meals a day (+ snacks and beverages), can significantly affect my health outcome. By eating a predominantly whole food plant-based diet, I can go a long way to stacking the cards in my favor in terms of disease prevention. That's so exciting to me. I have spent the last 5 years studying nutrition, so all of my daily choices are guided by the evidence-based science, which I follow.
KIDDOCJJ: Where/What would you like to EXPLORE - where, what and why?
SOPHIE: I would like to learn how to further my culinary skills in cooking plant-based. There are so many great chefs who specialize in this (such as Tal Ronan from Crossroads) and others across the globe). As we head into a more sustainable future, I think we are going to be seeing a whole new era of plant-based gourmet cuisine. Hmmmm - maybe I'd also like to take a vegan cheese cooking class.
KIDDOCJJ: Who or what INSPIREs you?
Older women who have managed to maintain their energy, light, vigor, and joy inspire me. Most of my mentors are women who are over the age of 70. Tao Porchon Lynch is a 98 year-old yoga teacher. She inspires me because she gets out of bed every morning full of positivity and light. People who give something back inspire me - giving back to our community. I try to do this as much as I can because I've been freely given so many gifts. We're on the planet for a very short time, so I like to inspire clients and readers to do the inner work, which reminds each and every one of us of our life purpose.
KIDDOCJJ: Any last words, Sophie?
SOPHIE: I'd love to invite anyone near Los Angeles to join me at my Gorgeous for Good Weekend Intensive retreat that runs June 9-10 at the Line Hotel in Los Angeles. If you bring your BFF, there's a great deal on line and you will all enjoy, learn from, and take away tons of knowledge from the experts I have assembled as part of this event. Cheers! and see you there or on www.SophieUliano.com.
