This lovely is from NOEL Serrano Ham...a humorous way to get my attention as there were multiple purveyors of pork products present (say that 5 times quickly!)
ELIOT'S ADULT NUT BUTTER sounds a little cheeky, but it's not. It's. Just. Simply. Delicious! My favorites are the Thai Chili, Garam Masala and Honey Chipotle Peanut Butters. Already I'm thinking of adding lime to the Thai for a quick sate, schmearing the Garam Masala on some Naan bread with yoghurt, and just eating the Honey Chipotle straight from the jar - one less spoon in the dishwasher!
Greg Murphy from Puffworks has figured out how to make delectable puffs with just 3 ingredients - corn, peanut and salt. Add cacao, and you've got the essence of a Reese's in a 5 gm protein/serving that's perfect post-workout, or tucked in your little one's lunch (or yours, too!)
These goat cheeses by CHEVOO truly are winners. What I loved was this Urfa Chili and Lemon marinated cheese - every morsel, inside and out, screamed citrus and heat, all in one bite. This would last about a minute in my house.
These delicious, light as a feather, muffins by SOOZY'S aren't bathed in any preservatives, artificial colors or laden with additives to enhance flavor. They are super clean and for those with food allergies, celiac or gluten intolerance, they are the answer to their prayers. They come in 4 flavors, and are individually wrapped in 4-packs so they can drop into a lunch bag or purse for an on the go, delicious nutritious treat!
Seriously, that doesn't mean the manufacturers stand up while making this creamy Irish oatmeal. It means the Flavahan's oats are grown with no other crops around, harvested, milled and packaged in the same place. This is the most widely eaten oatmeal in Ireland, and because the company controls all aspects of production, it's truly gluten free, loaded with fibre, health benefits, and unbelievably delicious. Sorry Quaker and McCann's, you've been beat!
...or are you glad to see me? I stopped dead in my tracks when these candles caught my eye. When I found out they were made from handcrafted chocolate, overlaid with edible designs, and designed by an architect with a son at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) I was sold. These delicious celebration candles come in sets of 3 to celebrate 3 wishes, or homage to past, present and future. Marie Antoinette, move over. LET THEM EAT CANDLES takes the cake!
Who doesn't LOVE cookie dough - but people like me (the vigilant pediatrician) warn about the risks of raw eggs, and even raw flour, when it comes to sampling this American favorite. Enter EDOUGHBLE - their founders thought of everything - no eggs, flour is heat treated, and their doughy treats are stable for 3 weeks at room temperature. I think I'll rent Bridesmaids, call a few of my gal pals, open some Chardonnay, and roll out a few cartons of EDOUGHBLE for good measure.
I was convinced after sampling Wild Poppy's Blood Orange Chili Soda that a bottle of it should live in my medicine cabinet JUST IN CASE I get sick with a sore throat. Each delectable sip delivers a POW! of citrus (nothing artificial here) and a later kick of heat in the back of your throat. Dr. JJ Tip: cayenne and other peppers can squat on our pain receptors in the throat and reduce pain substantially.
PERKY JERKY definitely was a rip-off....I mean, literally, their rep was dressed in a velcro suit and you could rip-off your samples. My husband is a jerky afficianado and gave PERKY JERKY an A+, and I gave their guy-on-the-floor high marks for persistance, personality, and playfulness - but he was highly POPULAR as well.
...as long as I can walk this show and taste the amazing variety of cheeses present aisle after aisle. I'm especially a fan of hard cheeses that tend to have less lactose, intense flavor, and are grate-able - making me great-ful I can include a little cheese with a LOT OF FLAVOR in my daily diet, and feed my I-refuse-to-break-a-hip bones with what they need to stay strong.
ANGEL'S SALUMI is God's gift to charcuterie. Yep, the usual suspects are in the assortment, but you'll also feast on the likes of Duck Prosciutto, Elk, Venison and Wild Boar Salumis, and my favorite, Salumi Tartuffo (with truffles) - it's heady aroma and amazing flavor are like perfume. Perhaps in my next life I can come back as a rare Italian Lagotto Romagnolo - the sought after and well-cared-for truffle sniffing dogs of Romagna.
I walked down the aisle where DARDIMAN'S literally commanded my attention. The natural purity of their dried snacks, and their simple merchandising didn't even come close to the intense and beautiful flavors of their fruits. Great for travel, on the go, and special gifts!
WINEFOREST WILDFOODS does just that. I am a huge fan of wild mushrooms - they are portable, potent and simply amazing when added to sauces, ragouts, pastas, and stuffing. But it's sometimes hard to procure the fresh varieties of mushrooms often called out in recipes. Here's your solution.
This BLOODY mix from LILLIE'S Q beats them all. Rather than the usual horseradish heat, there's the smokiness of BBQ, a hint of celery and acid from the tomato base. I drank it like gazpacho, and now dream of dousing a pile of fresh raw fish with this to make ceviche! Absent the fish, guess I'll make me a bloody mary!
I have to admit one of my favorite indulgences is having assorted plant and seed infused oils handy for all sorts of purposes - cooking, salad dressings, and finishing a dish, or just dipping into some flavor. The folks at La Tourangelle have hit the trifecta with 3 new oils for just those purposes: their PESTO Oil is perfection (bread, please!), the Herbs De Provence Oil is loaded with rosemary and thyme (can't wait to rub down a chicken or white fish with this), and the garlic oil will perform so many miracles in my day to day cooking.
